Video - Obscuration

Obscuring part of a video image may be required for a number of reasons - perhaps to obscure a person or car registration number to prevent identification. Or the opposite may be required - i.e. obscuring all but the person or object to be identified. The same image is used on this page to demonstrate different uses for obscuring part of the video image. Obscuring can be by blurring, pixellation or other effects as required by the customer.

This video still features a blur highlight that obscures everyone but one person and this compels the viewer to concentrate on the highlighted person as the video footage progresses.

This video still features a blur where one person has been intentionally obscured (this is sometimes required because the person is a juvenile, undercover officer etc.). This type of blur is also used for obscuring vehicle index numbers (for example index numbers of cars used by high ranking politicians, celebrities etc.)
